Christmas Invitation

We are learning to communicate with other people around the world using an invitation. I know I have learnt this when I have created an invitation to our christmas concert


Dear Mum and Dad,

I would like to invite you to the school hall for the Christmas concert, it will be held in the 17th of December at 6:30  pm. The Christmas concert is a play of how Jesus was born. There will classes singing and the year eight’s will perform how Jesus. The Year ones to the year sevens will be singing songs when the year eights are acting. The nativity scene is a special time of the year because it's Jesus birthday and Jesus birth, so please come to the concert if you can make it.

Persuasive Wasive Writing

      We are learning what the structure of a persuasive writing. The structure of a persuasive writing is, a thesis, three main reason with three examples or facts and a conclusion. Maori Instruments

We are learning about the Maori instruments and other traditional Instruments. I have chosen a lute to be my traditional instrument.Here is a picture and 5 facts about the lute.


  1. In Europe lutes were very popular for a few hundred years it was most popular in 1400-1800.
  2. There are a lot of wood you can use to make a lute these are the woods.For the neck block you can use Sycamore, Mahogany, Lime Wood, Cedar of Lebanon, Yellow Cedar and Poplar. For the ribs you can use RoseWood, Indian RoseWood, Kingwood, Ash, Yew, Plumwood, Cherry wood, Hornbeam, Goncalo alves, Walnut, Cocobolo, Padauk, Ebony, Plane, Sycamore, Maple, Birds eye maple and Holly.  
  3. Lutes were one of the most famous instruments in the early days, they were played in church, in courts, in towns, in streets and in theatre’s.
  4. Lutes have courses, there are 5 courses, 6 courses, 10 courses and 15 courses.
  5. Lutes are medieval instruments.

Freddie's Factory

We are learning to persuade people build/not build a factory on our courts. I know I have learnt this when I have created a persuasive story and made a blog post. This is my story.

Dear Freddie,
I think you should not build a factory in our school. Having  a factory in a school is horrible, having factory in school is bad, having a factory in a school is crazy.

Fletcher's company should not build a factory because they will take away our courts. We wont be able  to play any sports. All the people that like basketball wont be able to play. Having no court in our school is the worst thing in the world that could happen.

They should not build the factory because it will be noisy  and will disturb the other children that are learning.Would you want your learning to be disturbed every day? I wouldn't. The factory would affect our learning because we won't be able to hear the teacher. If that happens we won't learn and we will become dumb. Not concentrating is bad , not concentrating is terrible, not concentrating is awful.

Another reason not to build the factory is because the factory could cause a fire . The fire might be caused if a worker leaves something hot on a wooden bench over night. If theirs a fire it will destroy the school hall and church. It will also destroy our learning tools like our Chromebooks and it will be gone forever. Fire is bad, fire is fierce, fire is terrible.

If you put the factory our courts it wont be fun and if you make a lot of noise we wont be able to learn.

My Reflection Of This Year

We are learning to reflect on the work we have done this year. I know I have learnt this when I have reflected on things we have done this year. Here is my reflection of why it is better to use chrome books than books.


How has having a net book, connected to the  internet, helped my learning this year?
Having a net book connected to the internet helps us with our learning because we can teach people how to work out equations using our blogs. You also don’t have to find words in a thesaurus because you can just find words by going on the online thesaurus. You also don't have to look in a dictionary to find the definition or the correct spelling of a word because you can use the online dictionary to find the definition and the correct spelling. Another good thing about having a Chromebook is you get to use Google chrome which is faster than the internet and Google.

Living On A Star


We are learning to discover the the different types of stars and communicate what life would be like as a tourist there. I know I have learnt this when I have written a post card to my family about what life would be like on a star.

My Challenging Goals For Term Three


We are learning about goals, we had to make new challenging goals for writing, reading and maths. I know I have learned this when I can persuade someone using interesting words , read texts and understand them and get my division correct. These are my goals for term three


My goal for writing is to persuade people by using interesting words. This is important because  I will be able to put it on my blog and persuade people around the world to do something. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be to write interesting persuading sentences.


My goal for Reading  is to understand what the texts mean and read other sorts of stories. This is important because we will be able to understand other books that have really big words.The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be  to read chapter books everyday and reread the text if I don’t know what a word
means


My goal for Maths is to learn my division and use two types of strategies to solve problems. This is important because I will be able to get my division  right when I do a speed test. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be practice my division and solve maths problems with two strategies every day.

Maori Cloaks

We are learning to understand the importance of a Maori cloak and what it tells us. The Maori cloak tells a story about the wearer or the maker. They are made for special people like Maori chiefs to show that they are important. We have chosen to put our learning on our feather. This a picture of my feather.

We are learning about constellations.A constellation is something that helps navigators navigate through oceans. We were using film canisters to see what a few constellations looked like. We are learning to make a prayer for the people undergoing purgatory. I know I have learnt this when I have made a prayer for the people in purgatory.



Dear Forgiving God,
Thank you for the people that have gone into purgatory.
Please forgive the actions that the people in purgatory have done on earth and please help them to be their best self in Heaven.
Please help the people in Purgatory to get into Heaven and not turn away from you.
We promise to follow you and become holy people like the Saints.

Our Cool Rosary

In room 5 for R.E. we have been learning about the Rosary. We learnt that Saint Dominic started the Rosary. There are 5 mysteries and 53 Hail Mary's, we used this to create our own rosary to pray with. I know I have learnt this when I have created a rosary to pray with. This is the Rosary I made.

Rangoli Instructions

We are learning to create a rangoli. A rangoli is a traditional art that welcomes guests to there house. I know I have learnt this when I have typed the instructions. These are my instructions.

Ingrediants: coconut, food colouring and a little bit of water.


  1. Mix orange, blue, green, yellow and red coconut in large flat dishes and put them on a laundry floor, so the under floor heating dries it.
  2. rub the crumbs between your fingers to make sure there are no lumps.
  3. Draw your design on large board and create a sign on your design. Then copy your design onto a board using the coloured coconut.

Lost At Sea

We are learning to retell a story using Go Animate. I know I have learnt this when I have made Go Animate video that tells the story. Lost at sea is about a family, there Dad got lost at sea on Christmas Eve. There uncles, uncle Lew and uncle Al persuaded him to come fishing with them.When they were at sea  there boat crashed and they had to go to the hospital because uncle Al hurt his leg. Then they went back home and they were not lost at sea anymore.This is my video telling a little bit of the story.

Facebook For Children Under 13


I believe children under 13 should not have Facebook. Children with Facebook is bad, children that have Facebook is forbidding, children with Facebook is horrible.


Children under 13 should not have Facebook because it is against the law.There are 7.5 million children under 13 that use facebook. If children under 13 have Facebook they could get in trouble with police and have to pay fine or go to juvie. Would you want your children to go to juvie or pay a fine? Children  wouldn't. Children paying fines is bad, children paying fines is horrible, children paying fines is terrible.

Children under 13 should also not have Facebook because they might get bullied. If they get bullied by school kids, they might not want to go back to school because they will be bullied even more. If they don’t go to school they won’t learn forever and if they don't learn  they will become dumb. Facebook is the worst thing in the world that could happen to children under thirteen.


Children under 13 should not have Facebook because there might be swear words, when there talking. If there is swear words the little kids might use those words at school, home or on Facebook. If they use the  bad words and don’t know the meaning they might get hurt at school or get in trouble at home. Children swearing is awful, children swearing is horrible, children swearing is terrible.

Children should never have Facebook  because they will be in trouble with the police, they will also get bullied and they will get in trouble by using swear words. Facebook for children is bad, Facebook for children is crazy, Facebook for children is dreadful.

Shadings

In Room Five we are learning to sketch images using pencils.
Yesterday we where learning about the shades that pencils make. We where using 6b pencils. We had to cross hatch and make five shade's.We had to start of with a light shade and then get darker and darker until you reached five cool shade's. I know I have achieved this when my shading goes from light to dark.

               In room five for art we have been learning  to gather ideas using different sources of            information.We brainstormed about animals,then we had to find facts about a fish or dolphins or a whale.I wrote facts about hectors dolphin,here are some facts about the hector dolphin.


1.The the population of  Hectors dolphins in new zealand is 3,000 to 4,000
2.Most of the Hectors dolphins can be found of the South Island
3.Hectors dolphins are part of the delphinidae family
4. Hectors dolphins was named in honour of Sir James Hector    
5.  Fewer than 100 Hector dolphins can be found off the North Island
6.Hectors dolphin is one of the smallest dolphins
7.Hectors dolphin can live up to 20 years
8.Maori people use to watch the movements of the Hector dolphin to predict the weather

Dear God of Healing,
Please look after my Grandma in America because she is sick and she had an operation yesterday. Help my mum who went over to america to look after her. Take care of my Grand ma and help her when she has other operations. Please give my mum faith that her mum will be okay and give my mums family courage. Thank you for looking after my Grandma. Please help the doctors who are looking  after her. Please heal my Grandma and all the people that are hurt in mind, body and soul.

Baptism Symbols

My Learning Goals For This Term






For this term my goal is to write better stories and put more ambitious vocab in it. I want to do this so I can improve my writing so I can be a good writer and not have to look  words up in the dictionary when I’m in a writing test.The steps  I will do to achieve my goal will be to Write a small  paragraph everyday and use ambitious vocab in stories I write. 




My goal for  Reading this term is to read  and understand the stories I read and to read thick chapter books.I want to do this so I can get a good score in  my test and  be a able to finish a thick chapter book.The steps I will do to achieve my goal will be to read a chapter book every day.I will also write a paragraph about the book.



My goal for Maths this term is to do be able to do my 13 to 15 times tables and finish a basic facts test in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.I want to do this because I want to get a high score in my maths and I want to be able to get a good time in my basic facts.The steps I will take to

The Eating Contest That Never Happened!



Last week was saint Patrick's day, this is my favourite part of my Saint Patricks Day celebration.

As we walked to the next class I found out that we were going to room 5, my room. I wondered what our teacher prepared as an activity. When we got there, we got a big art shirt on and washed our hands. When I walked in I saw a gigantic, enormous amount of icing, cookies and lollies. I thought we were going to do an eating contest. But we were actually putting icing on plain cookies with three lollies. I made a weird looking one, it had green icing, one marshmallow, one mint and one M&M. Everyone's fingers got so messy, it was so unbelievable.
